EDINA SENIOR LEGION BASEBALL
*Five-time Minnesota State Legion Champions and 1983 U.S. National Champions!
There will be one or two Edina American Legion Baseball teams. American Legion GOLD will play in the South Hennepin League. American Legion GREEN (if needed) will play with local communities that have two Legion teams or Tier 1 teams. Both leagues are competitive; however, the Gold team will be considered Edina’s #1 team. Both teams will be competing in tournaments and playoffs.
American Legion Baseball is for high school juniors and seniors (17-18 year olds). College freshmen who are 18 years of age as of January 1, are also eligible to play. Players must be registered with EBA to try out. In addition to the $330 registration fee, there will be fees assessed upon team announcements.
The EBA will determine upon completion as to whether we will field one or two American Legion teams. Additional assessments will be $270 if a player makes the American Legion GREEN team. The assessment will be $795 if a player makes the American Legion GOLD team. If a player plays on multiple teams (i.e. is a double roster candidate for Junior Legion and American Legion GOLD, that player will pay one assessment, which will be the higher of the two teams).
PLAYERS AND PARENTS SHOULD EXPECT THE SEASON TO RUN FROM 1st OR 2st WEEK OF JUNE THOUGH THE END OF AUGUST (ASSUMING STATE TOUNAMENT AND REGIONAL TOURNAMENT PARTICIPATION). DURNG THIS TIME, IT IS EXPECTED THAT THE PLAYER WILL BE PRESENT AT ALL PRACTICES AND GAMES. IF A PLAYER MISSES ANY EVENTS IT WILL BE THE DISCRESTION OF THE COACHING STAFF TO DETERMINE THE APPROPRIATE LEVEL OF ACCOUNTABILITY. THIS COULD INCLUDE REDUCED PLAYING TIME. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PLAYER OR PARENT TO INFORM THE COACHING STAFF OF ANY KNOWN OBLIGATIONS (FAMILY VACATIONS, WEDDINGS, RETREATS, ETC) THAT WILL REQUIRE THE PLAYER TO MISS ANY BASEBALL EVENTS. THIS NOTIFICATION SHOULD BE SHARED WITH THE COACHING STAFF PRIOR TO THE TRYOUT PROCESS COMPLETING.
Note: All sophomores (16-year-olds) try out at the Junior Legion level but may be asked by invitation only to try out at the Senior Legion level.

EDINA JUNIOR LEGION BASEBALL
There will be one or two Edina Junior Legion teams this year: Junior Legion GOLD and Junior Legion GREEN (if needed). The JL Gold team will play in the top division of Junior Legion. If we field a 2nd team, the Green team will play in the second-most competitive league. Both leagues are very competitive and may play teams from the other league. Junior Legion baseball is for 10th graders (16-year-olds). This is the most competitive "travel team" option for 10th graders. Players must be registered with the EBA to try out for the Junior Legion teams. In addition to the $330 registration fee, there may be fees assessed up to $520 upon team announcements.
The Edina Baseball Association will determine upon completion of registration as to whether we will field one or two teams at the Junior Legion level. Our goal is to make certain we have enough players to field a competitive team at any level. If it is determined that the EBA will field a single Junior Legion team, then 16 year old (those completing 9th grade) players not making that team will be eligible to be selected for the Senior Legion II team (coach's decision). If a player is not selected for the Senior Legion I, Senior Legion II or Junior Legion team, that player will be able to participate in the Senior Rec league.
Note: Sophomores will be by invitation only for the Senior American Legion Tryout and will be contacted individually by the Senior Legion Coach to let them know if they are invited to the Legion tryout.

SENIOR RECREATION LEAGUE for players who have completed 10th, 11th or 12th Grade
Senior Recreation Baseball provides a great opportunity for 10th-12th graders to continue playing summer baseball throughout their high school years. Edina's Senior Recreation team’s plays in a multi-city league called Senior League where all teams have similar skill level and interest. This league is fun, recreational baseball; however, we ask for a strong level of commitment by the players to their teams. There are no tryouts. Cost for Senior Recreation is $330 per player.
The Senior Recreation league plays approximately two times per week on various weekday evenings and occasionally on weekends. Practices begin in mid-May and games start late May. The regular season continues through July 1st and the playoffs could run until approximately mid-July.
Players in the Senior Recreation League are those that are completing 10th, 11th or 12th grade and are not on the American Legion team(s), or Junior legion team(s). Edina will create one, two or three teams* with approximately 16-18 players per team. There are no try-outs or cuts for this league. Players receive equal playing time throughout the year.
Note that players that try-out for, but do not make either the American Legion team roster or the Junior legion team roster will automatically be placed on a Senior Recreation team roster.
To help ensure a positive experience for those participating in the Senior Rec program, we are looking for Adult Volunteers to help coach, please register to coach and/or contact seniorleague@edinabaseball.com.
Locations for home games are expected to be at Courtney, Yancey Park, Cornelia Prep, Braemar and SV/McCarthy Field. Away games are primarily in Eden Prairie and St Louis Park.
