Day Ball (PreK-2nd Grade)

Led by Jim Nunn and Edina High School players.

For players in PreK, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade on May 1, 2024. The season runs six weeks from June 10 through July 25, 2024. Registration opens mid-March and closes by May 15. There are a few spots still available, if interested email info@edinabaseball.com

PreK to 1st grade teams are organized based by schools: efforts are made to match play-with request, although this is not always possible. 
 
Basic Information by Grade 
 
  • Day Baseball PreK, currently in pre-school at time of registration (entering kindergarten in the upcoming fall) 
    • Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu (select days at registration), 9am-9:45am; at Weber Park 
    • Fee $180 
    • Objective and basic structure- Introduction to baseball basics, bases, positions, hitting, throwing, catching, and fielding using mini-games and tee-ball games focused on exploring basics and engaging the players. Soft baseballs and/or whiffle balls are used and players hit from a tee. 
  • Day Baseball K, currently in kindergarten at the time of registration 
    • Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu (select days at registration), 9am-9:45am; at Weber Park 
    • Fee $180 
    • Objective and basic structure- Continued introduction to baseball basics; bases, positions, hitting, throwing, catching, and fielding using mini-games and tee-ball games focused on teaching basics and engaging the players. Soft baseballs and/or whiffle balls are used and players hit from a tee. 
  • Day Baseball 1st grade, currently in 1st grade at time of registration
    • Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu (select days at registration), 10am-11am; at Weber Park
    • Fee $200
    • Objective and basic structure: Continued introduction to baseball basics and skills; bases, positions, hitting, throwing, catching, and fielding using skill drills and coach pitched games focused on teaching baseball skills and engaging the players. 
  • Day Baseball 2nd grade, currently in 2nd grade at time of registration
    • Mon/Tue/Thu, 11:15am-12:15pm; at Weber Park
    • Fee $300
    • Mon/Tues will be skills and  Thursday will be coach pitched games focused on baseball skills highlighted that week
  • 3rd-5th graders interested in a day time option check out NLB

Equipment

Players will receive a T-shirt and baseball cap. Players are expected to provide their own baseball pants and wear non-metal cleats or sneakers. The league provides bats and batting helmets, but players are also welcome to bring their own. Please bring a water bottle and label everything including your player's cap!
